Jim Black’s guilty plea for accepting illegal gratuties in the amount of $29,000 over four years is big news in NC but bigger news to me considering the locale of the crime. Corruption charges against political officials isn’t new, but making it publicly known that you accepted money in a bathroom in exchange for certain servies, political services in this case, adds a humorous twist to the story.
Sadly, Jim Black will join heroin/crack addicts, glory hole users, and men on the downlow as people who perceive their social deviancies to be so heinous that they can only be perpetrated in the confines of human excrement.
Indeed these perceived henious acts question the true character of the individual. However to be fair we should suggest that not all deviances performed in such a place are to be regarded with such disdain. Let’s not forget the immortal words of Humpty Hump (emphasis mine):
